Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
